Stress Control Programme at the Mall Arts Centre, Youghal


Face your fears, be more active, boost your well being ……

Presented by clinical psychologists and supported by Cork County Council, the  HSE Community Psychology will deliver a  “Stress Control” Programme on Thursday mornings  at The Mall Arts Centre, Youghal commencing on Thursday the 21st of September  through to  Thursday the 26th of October.

‘Stress Control’ is a FREE six session class  devised to help the large number of people who experience stress and who are keen to learn how to tackle the problem themselves.   As this is a class and not therapy no one will be asked to discuss their personal experience.

The program runs each morning from 10 am to 11:45 am with a break for tea/coffee.

Culture night is an annual public event that celebrates culture, creativity and the arts.  This year, Culture Night will take place on Friday 22nd September between 5pm and 11pm.  On Culture Night, venues all around the island of Ireland open their doors for special and unique events and workshops, all free of charge.

Culture Night 2017, the seventh Culture Night in Youghal will, feature a vast array of free arts, culture events taking place in many venues throughout the town, with something for everyone to enjoy.

Culture Night by its very nature encourages the movement of people from one venue to another. Youghal Community Bus has offered their services for Culture Night acting as a shuttle bus and facilitating the movement of people thought out the town to all events. The buses will leave approximately every 20 minutes from the Culture stop at the Mall Arts Centre. Departure times to follow.

This event is supported by Cork County Council Arts Department and the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.

ST MARY’S COLLEGIATE CHURCH,YOUGHAL - Celebrates Youghal’s Culture

Youghal Socio Economic Development, Yew Wood Venues presents a celebration of Youghal’s culture with opening proceedings by The Reverend Edwin Hunter; performance by Youghal Choral Society; history of St Mary’s Collegiate Church from Norman McDonald; and a talk on famous Youghal Artists by Mary Roach.  More details to follow.

TYNTE’S CASTLE - Give us a recitation!

Youghal Celebrates History, Youghal Little Heather an Youghal Men’s Shed present a night of old favourite recitations performed by people who have made them their own.

Many people had favourite recitations ( IF, the Four Farrellys), the Cremation of Sam Magee, Dangerous Dan McGrew, Micheál Mór, the Night before Christmas, the Harpy, and so on) – these will be performed on the night by people who have made them their own. All are welcome. We would appreciate it if those who had a suggestion or a recitation would contact us beforehand.

THE COLLEGE GARDENS - Marquee in the Garden

Youghal Socio Economic Development Ltd, Yew Wood Venues present Lark in the Park.  A gathering of local musicians who will celebrate the contemporary musical culture of our town in the wonderful medieval garden surrounds.

The program will comprise of 4-5 acts that will each perform a set 20 minutes in duration. More details to follow.

A relaxed evening of Irish conversation, with a talk about the origins and history of Irish Dance, poetry readings in Irish and music from Comhaltas.

An Naíonra, Irish Medium playschool, is based in Youghal Community Centre and was established in 1980 by Conradh na Gaeilge.
